Six Month Smiles®: Fast Facts
Consultation: examination of your mouth and digital scans to check over the position of your teeth. You will also need to be decay, infection, and gum disease-free prior to treatment.
First treatment appointment: X-rays and scans are taken with our state-of-the-art Trios 3 Shapes intra oral scanner, which takes accurate and putty-free scans of your teeth. These are sent away to Six Month Smiles, who manufacture your braces.
Braces: your braces are sent back to the practice, and you’re ready to start the process. Along the way, we will ask that you come in for check-ups and a simple brace adjustment.
Retainer: a retainer needs to be worn once your teeth are straight. This prevents them from moving out of place.

We recommend Six Month Smiles® to patients who might not want to commit to more comprehensive teeth straightening treatment, but who still want an attractive smile.
It’s a common (and false) belief that the short treatment time associated with Six Month Smiles® must mean the brace is being tightened more intensely than conventional braces. This is simply not true. The same forces as long-term objectives braces are used – it’s simply that they are focusing on guiding fewer teeth into a new position, reducing the treatment time significantly.
Six Month Smiles® uses either clear aligners or ceramic brackets as opposed to the more visible conventional metal brackets, blending in with the aesthetic of your teeth. The brace wires will be made to appear the same shade as your teeth, giving the brace another cosmetic dimension when compared with traditional metal braces.
