Full Mouth Reconstruction: The Facts
Full mouth reconstruction is the process of restoring the health and aesthetic of your smile, using dental implants. Implants are replacement roots for the gaps in your smile. After they have healed, a bridge or set of removable dentures can be fastened into place.
- Suitable for patients with few or no natural teeth remaining.
- Small number of implants are used to replace lost teeth.
- Failing teeth are extracted by our experienced oral surgeons.
- IV sedation is optional.
- 6-12 month process.
Full Mouth Reconstruction: An Undertaking You Will Never Regret
Teeth become damaged or lost for reasons including: gum disease, tooth decay, dental infections and certain oral health conditions. Loss of teeth leads to chewing and speaking difficulties.
With full mouth reconstruction, we can design and rebuild your teeth. Treatment also has an impact on the whole face, as implants solve the issue of jawbone atrophy. This will leave you with a fuller-looking cheek region, creating a younger-looking overall appearance.
We can rehabilitate your smile with all on 4 “Smile in a Day” treatment or using implant retained dentures. Full mouth rehabilitation can also involve building up worn teeth with composite resin, crowns, or veneers.
The Patient Journey
Consultation: full examination and explanation of treatment. Treatment options outlined. Discussion of your treatment goals in detail.
CBCT scan: cone beam CT scan of the jaw is undertaken to aid in the careful planning of your treatment watching all the vital anatomical structures. *
Implant placement: the implants are placed under a local anaesthetic. The jaw is left to heal for approximately 3 to 9 months.
*Patients with failing teeth that require extraction will need to wait for their jaw to heal before implant placement surgery. If you have low jawbone density prior to treatment, bone regeneration such as a bone graft or sinus lift will also need to be carried out before implant surgery.
